I took the day off work today to attend the Camden Daffodil Festival. It was snowing this morning, so I called ahead to verify they were still having it – I was looking forward to seeing the gardens in the snow. They said it was still going on, but when I got there, they had shut down for the day. I turned around and headed back, determined to drive by two of the gardens, a short jog off the road home. And my windshield wiper broke off. Aagh. Luckily, it was the passenger side, because the snow was coming down pretty good. Unfortunately, the metal that remained was scratching the windshield, so I had to find a place to pull over. This is not an easy task when you are driving on a rural highway in the snow, with cars stacked on top of each other because everyone is afraid to drive over 35. Finally, I found a spot and put one of my mittens over the piece that remained, and drove the rest of the way home.
I spent much of the afternoon watching the feeders out back. The birds are out in force, and today 2 red-bellied woodpeckers visited the suet feeder.
